CAMT.053
CAMT.053 is the ISO 20022 XML format for a bank-to-customer statement, the modern successor to MT940 for reporting account transactions.
CAMT.053 carries the same idea as MT940, a statement of what happened on an account, but as structured XML with far more detail per transaction, including richer references and end-to-end IDs.
That extra structure makes automatic reconciliation more reliable, because a payment can be matched to the exact invoice it settled. It is now the preferred statement format across the SEPA area.
Cortena imports CAMT.053 statements and uses their references to reconcile payments against booked invoices.
