MT940
MT940 is a standard bank statement file format that reports the transactions and balances on an account for a given day.
MT940 is a text-based SWIFT format that banks have used for decades to deliver end-of-day statements. Each file lists the opening balance, the movements and the closing balance.
Finance teams import MT940 to reconcile what was paid against what was booked. It is gradually being replaced by the richer XML-based CAMT.053, but remains widely supported.
Cortena accepts MT940 for bank data exchange and reconciliation alongside CSV and CAMT.053.
